The Trust is to stage a very special event next month to celebrate the 20^th anniversary of Cardiff City’s promotion as champions from the old Third Division.

Legends from the 1992-93 promotion team have already indicated they will be delighted to attend.

Those confirming their attendance  are Jason Perry, Paul Ramsey, Nick Richardson, Paul Millar, Cohen Griffith, Andy Gorman, Neil Matthews, Derek Brazil, Damon Searle and coach, Roger Gibbons, although attendees are subject to change. Other players may be added to the list.

The event, which will take place at the Cardiff City Stadium on Thursday, November 21st (7pm for 7.30pm), has been organised by the Trust’s membership group and it is expected to be very popular.

It will follow the same format as the Real Madrid, Leeds and the 1982-83 evenings, compered by BBC Wales football correspondent Rob Phillips, a great supporter of the Trust. There will be a raffle on the evening.

John Isaacson, the Trust’s board member with responsibility for membership, said: “We are expecting a lot of interest from fans in attending an event with one of the most popular group of players ever to have turned out for the Bluebirds. Fans are guaranteed a fantastic evening of football chat and we’re delighted that Rob Phillips has once again agreed to compere the evening. Thanks to Terry Phillips of Media Wales and Damon Searle for help in bringing the players together.”

Tickets will be free to members of the Supporters’ Trust who have until Friday, October 18, to reserve them. If you would like to reserve tickets contact members@ccfctrust.org. No tickets will be offered to non members of the Trust until after October 18^th because of the expected demand. Non-members can guarantee their place at this very special event by joining theTrust for just £12 per annum, which includes free entry to the evening.

Tickets will need to be collected from the Trust office before the Swansea City derby clash.

Cardiff City and Swansea City Supporters’ Trusts have united to issue a Press statement ahead of next month’s east-west derby. It said:

Exactly one month before the first ever South Wales derby in the top division, Cardiff City and Swansea City Supporters’ Trusts have issued a joint statement urging fans to enjoy the day without taking the rivalry too far.

Fans of the Bluebirds and the Swans have been looking forward to this first derby in the Premier League ever since the fixture list was released.

Tim Hartley, chair of the Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust, said: “These are exciting days for Welsh football. We have been looking forward to this fixture for years and the match will be a showcase for the two cities and also for Wales.

“Cardiff v Swansea has always been a passionate encounter with plenty of banter between supporters. In the past this has sometimes gone too far so it is important that fans do not overstep the mark and show each other respect.

“We want the derby to be remembered for all the right reasons – plenty of thrills and high quality football between two great rivals played in the right spirit. So we are saying to fans, support your team, but please ensure at all times you do it in the right way.”

Phil Sumbler, chair of Swansea City Supporters’ Trust, said. “It will be a passionate and noisy encounter and a chance for fans on both sides to showcase what is best about South Wales’ two Premier League clubs.

“It is important to ensure all post-match discussions are about the action on the football pitch and I hope all in the stadium enjoy what will be a fantastic occasion.”

Trust member Paul Evans writes about the new Cardiff City book which will be published next  month.

Some of you may have seen something about our book in the Trust column in Sunday’s Spurs programme – it was said there that the Newcastle game on October 5 had been pencilled in as a launch date.

However, since that piece went to press, we have been informed by the printers that it’s virtually certain that they won’t be able to meet the deadline for publication on that date and so it will go on sale from the Trust Office before the Swansea match on November 3

As there is a good chance that we will have the books some time before that, we are looking at possible alternative ways of selling it at earlier dates than that and there will be the chance to purchase it through a PayPal link which will be put on my blog in the next two weeks.

As for the book itself, it is called “The Journey Back- Cardiff City’s rise through the divisions 1991 to 2013”. It was originally conceived as a follo- up to John Crooks’ excellent “Official History of the Bluebirds” published in 1992. Although it was later decided that we wouldn’t look for “official” accreditation, it is still, in many ways, a Part 2 to that book in that it begins where the original ended (the end of the 1990-91 season) and the format used consists of reviews of each season followed by a statistical breakdown of that campaign.

The book will have around 400 pages, including a colour section featuring team groups for 18 of the 22seasons covered and there are black and white photographs throughout. I have written the season reviews and Richard Holt has provided the stats. I must say as well that I think he has done a great job in providing clear and easy to understand team line ups (including the opposition) for every competitive match we’ve played during the period covered – we have a very hard act to follow, but I’m of the opinion that, in this area at least, we’ve improved on the original.

Above is the provisional cover for the book – there may well be some small changes made, but, essentially, this is what it will look like.

Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust has presented honorary membership to Eric Harmer for his dedicated support and work for the Trust.

Eric, best known as landlord of the Duke of Clarence in Canton, is pictured at Mavericks, formerly the Ninian Park, with board member John Isaacson and Trust chair, Tim Hartley.

Thanks Eric for all your efforts – it really is appreciated.

These three lovely ladies were among the first purchasers of the Trust T-shirt in aid of Ty Hafan.

All were sold but you can get yours from the Trust office before the Everton game at £7 with all profits to the deserving children’s charity.
