CITY FAN RUNS IN BERLIN FOR KEENOR APPEAL
KEEN City fan Richard Lewis put his best foot forward in Berlin to raise funds for the Fred Keenor Statue Fund.
Richard, 33, ran the Berlin Marathon last month, and has already collected around £140 along with raising sponsorship for Sir Bobby Robson’s cancer charity.
Richard, who works for the Welsh Assembly Government, completed the run in 4 hours 56 minutes, 12 seconds. His wife Delyth also took part in aid of cancer charity Tenovus finishing in a splendid time of 3 hours, 55 minutes, 20 minutes.
Richard told us: “I will be raiding my mates’ wallets after the Wales game on Friday for some further sponsorship.”
Fund Press Officer Phillip Nifield said: “We’re really grateful for Richard’s efforts in Berlin. We’d like to see more supporters following his lead and taking part in events or organising their own in aid of the fund.”
Later this month fellow Bluebirds fan Matthew Bullock is by running the Toronto marathon in aid of the appeal.

QUIZ FOR FRED KEENOR FUND: BE THERE!
Final reminder that the Fred Keenor Statue Appeal Committee is holding a quiz in Merthyr Tydfil tomorrow (Thursday).
Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust chair Tim Hartley will act as quizmaster at the Brunswick Hotel in Church Street, (7.30pm for 8pm prompt start).
Entry is just £2.50 per person with a maximum of six per team. A raffle is also planned with a ball by Cardiff City players and tickets to a match among the prizes. A curry is also on offer to all participants.
Fans told us that the Trust needed to get out of Cardiff and hold events in the Valleys. We’ve listened, so please show your support and also help the appeal fund. All are welcome.
Changes to Membership – Simplification!
The Trust Board is writing to let you know about a major change to the Trust membership scheme. We’ve decided to move away from the current structure of having six different membership categories and to radically simplify things. In future, all adult members of the Trust will pay the same for their membership and we’ve set that fee at £12 a year. All under 16s living at the same address as an adult member may join the Trust for free.
We’ve made this change for several reasons. Every adult member has an equal share in the Trust (and a share in Cardiff City through the Trust’s shareholding in the Club), they all have a vote, and they all have a voice. It seems right that everyone should pay the same to be a member. Until now, we’ve had a kind of a Gold, Silver and Bronze membership scheme but now we’re saying, “Your membership costs £12 but please give more if you can.” Charging everyone the same for membership will greatly simplify our database and financial administration, our enrolment procedures and publicity material. Finally and most importantly, we want to make joining the Trust as simple and affordable for as many City fans as possible and this change will support renewed efforts to recruit new members in a forthcoming membership drive.
We believe that setting the annual membership fee at £12 will enable us to cover the basic running costs of the Trust but in order to develop the Trust further and support wider activities like members events, community initiatives, the Fred Keenor appeal etc. etc., we will need more than just membership funds. Up to now, we’ve relied upon the generosity of our members in the Phil Dwyer and Jason Perry categories and we’re appealing to them to keep paying at their current level. We’ll also be asking new members who can afford it to give annual donations of £12, £24 or £48 on top of their membership fee. All donated income we receive will be used responsibly to develop the Trust further for the benefit of members and half of it will be placed in a contingency fund. We’re relying on the generosity and goodwill of City fans to enable us to build on the good work we’ve started.
If you do want to make any changes to your current Trust membership or if you want further information about these changes, we’re always available to help and you can contact us by email at help@ccfctrust.org.
Meanwhile, thank you all very much for your support of the Trust as we look to grow in numbers and influence on behalf of Cardiff City fans.

FRED KEENOR QUIZ IN MERTHYR: YOU GOT A TEAM TOGETHER?
Are you going to the quiz in aid of the Fred Keenor Statue Appeal Fund at the Brunswick, Merthyr, next Thursday (October 7) 7.30pm for 8pm prompt start?
Entry is £2.50 per person, six maximum in team. There’s also a raffle with some great prizes includes Grandstand tickets for a City game and a football by 16 players and the landlord has promised a free curry so great value.
We’d love to see plenty of Bluebirds fans particularly from the Valleys turning up for what should be a good night and it should raise a tidy sum for the statue appeal.
The Supporters’ Trust board members will be present so you can also sign up for the Trust for just £12 a year.
