The Trust has issued a comment following the BBC’s latest Price of Football Survey.
Tim Hartley, chair of Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust, said: “There is absolutely no need for football clubs to charge fans so much for team shirts.
“While noting the £38 cost of the replica shirt produced by Cardiff City, the Trust has this season produced a high quality adult match-day shirt in partnership with sportswear manufacturers, Kukri, for just £27, which includes a £5 donation to the Ty Hafan children’s hospice and £22 for a children’s shirt. This shows that shirts can be produced at a reasonable cost for supporters – if clubs want to do so.
“We believe that fans following top teams in the English leagues generally get a raw deal with admission prices much higher than watching, for instance, top clubs in the Bundesliga and other leagues on the continent.”
