The Fred Keenor statue campaign was given a massive boost after Cardiff City announced it was hosting an evening with Dave Jones and Ricky Tomlinson in aid of the appeal.
Dave Jones will kick off the evening on Thursday, September 16th (7pm) with a question and answer session, followed by Ricky Tomlinson and comedian Gary Skyner.
The club is donating £2 from every ticket sold to the appeal and there will also be an auction and raffle during the evening to raise funds.
Cardiff City Chief Executive Gethin Jenkins said, “The stadium has already shown that it can be a top class venue to host events, and this will be no exception in what should be a great night. We are naturally proud to support the hard work of the Fred Keenor statue fund raising committee and we are sure that everyone will enjoy a memorable night.”
David Craig of the Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust, and project manager for the statue appeal, said: “This really promises to be a great evening. For Cardiff City fans, the chance to ask Dave Jones questions is something not to be missed and of course there’s top-class entertainment laid on with Ricky Tomlinson.
“It’s an evening Cardiff City fans and people in general won’t want to miss and we are confident a substantial amount of money will be raised for the appeal. We’re very grateful for the continued support of Cardiff City, who are as determined as we are to see the statue to a true Bluebirds icon built.”
Vince Alm of Cardiff City Supporters Club added: “Cardiff City Supporters Club are very please to support such a worthwhile event, and it’s a rare opportunity for fans to ask Dave Jones a question or two.
“The entertainment promises to be first class too with Ricky in attendance, who is sure to provide a great laugh for everyone. Well done to the football club for putting on the event, and making it accessible for the majority of supporters with reasonable pricing.”
Tickets for the evening cost £30 (general admission) or a discounted price of £25 for Premier Club members and Ambassadors. Group bookings can also be made with tables to sit 10 available for £250. A meal of curry and rice is included in the price.
Book early to avoid disappointment. Bookings can be made with the club’s commercial team on 0845 345 1405. It’s sure to be a great night.
