CITY FANS CAN READ ALL ABOUT IT NOW

City fans can now read the latest Trust online magazine, Moving To A Different Beat, through this website.

It was previously only available for viewing by Trust members but the access password to the magazine is being made generally available. You just click on the link and when prompted enter the password ccst1927 to read the magazine.

There are fascinating interviews with City’s Player of the Season Kevin McNaughton and legend Don Murray who talks about his great career, life under Jimmy Scoular, Jay Bothroyd, money in football and much, much more.

The BBC Wales’ football commentator and Trust supporter Rob Phillips also writes for us and among other features is the second part of Dave Sugarman’s super read on the life and times of Fred Keenor, a review of a past season, a Q&A with a Bluebirds fan and all the latest Trust news. Thanks to Planet Gymnastics for their support through advertising.

We’re hoping to produce the next edition in January, both in  hard copy and online form.

TRUSTS TAKE TO FOOTBALL FIELD FOR KEENOR APPEAL

Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust has organised a mini football tournament in Pontypridd in aid of the Fred Keenor Statue Appeal.

Supporters’ Trust teams from Cardiff, Newport and Merthyr and a side from the Valleys are raring to go with the first match kicking off on Sunday, September 4, (10am) at Maritime Park, Pontypridd.

After the tournament, the Rose and Crown, Graig, Pontypridd, will host a buffet from 6pm while The Underdogs will provide the entertainment. Those taking part are paying £5 each to play and a raffle with some great prizes is being organised.

Pontypridd-based Martin Bale, Trust board member for community activities, said: “We held a similar event in aid of the Ty Hafan which was a huge success and we’ve organised this tournament to help raise funds for the Keenor Appeal.

“Fred Keenor was a working class hero, who despite being injured in the Battle of the Somme in World War One, went on to captain Cardiff City to FA Cup glory in 1927 while also captaining his country.

“We need £85,000 to make the deserving tribute to Fred outside the Cardiff City Stadium a reality and we’ve raised more than £51,000 so far in just 16 months. The Trust would like to thank JM Creative for their £200 sponsorship of the tournament. The support of business is really appreciated.”

TRUST WELCOME ARRIVA TRAINS CHANGE OF HEART

The Trust issued the following statement following Arriva Trains’ decision to agree to trains stopping at Ninian Park station before kick off on match-days. After games trains will start stopping at Ninian Park station an hour after games. A statement from Arriva and the club can be read on the club website: www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk

Tim Hartley, chair of Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust, said: “We’re pleased that Arriva Trains Wales has had a rethink of its transport arrangements at Ninian Park Station on match days.

“The changes will mean that fans will be able to use Ninian Park station before and after an hour following the end of matches. We thank Cardiff City Football Club for raising this matter with the railway company on behalf of supporters .”
